NASA Granted The Funds For Development Of Autonomous Spacecraft That Will Utilise Blockchain

A news outlet Space.com detailed, The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has allotted a new grant that backs the advancement of an autonomous spacecraft that could settle on choices utilising Blockchain technology without human involvement.



An assistant professor of electrical and computer designing at the University of Akron, Ohio, Jin Wei Kocsis was granted $330,000 from NASA to help with her research. Kocsis said that the research program will look at the use of Ethereum-based Blockchain technology in building up a safe computing framework to be utilised in space, she said:
 


"In this project, the Ethereum Blockchain technology will be exploited to develop a decentralized, secure, and cognitive networking and computing infrastructure for deep space exploration… I hope to develop technology that can recognize environmental threats and avoid them, as well as complete a number of tasks automatically. I am honoured that NASA recognized my work, and I am excited to continue challenging technology's ability to think and do on its own."
 


The framework will purportedly utilise the hidden smart contracts technology to fabricate a spacecraft that could think for itself, empowering it to consequently distinguish and avoid floating debris timely. Wei Kocsis trusts that with such innovation, spacecraft will have the capacity to finish more undertakings, give more information, and give scientists more opportunity for data investigation, as they would never again be occupied with reckoning ecological dangers.

The University of Akron didn't uncover any course of the event for when Wei Kocsis innovation would be sent into space.
